A stage full of guitar amps calls to be treated as a choreography.
SCAPE of GRACE is a choreographed concert, a rock meditation, a dance for guitar amps and human performers. The aesthetic territory invites human and amp bodies to be subject to both sonic and material landscapes, and within it to be navigated and animated. Meeting and melding with the dynamics that the two entities produce, the affect is found in the suspended, the casual, the aggressive – the mysterious and the obvious, in their mass and their nothingness.
Hallvarður Ásgeirsson (composer, b.1976) and Saga Sigurðardóttir (dancer and choreographer, b. 1982) met in gardening work many years ago. Their second encounter, in 2012, was the beginning of a collaboration, as Hallvarður had been carrying wild fantasies about working with choreography and Saga, in the middle of her study for a theology degree, was haunted by the obvious but mysterious relationship between rock music and body.
